Happy Birthday

This summer marks an important anniversary in the life of Glasgow Harbour.

On 29th June 2001, Glasgow Harbour was granted outline planning consent by Glasgow City Council.  Since then, a lot has happened.

In these first 5 years we have seen demolitions and site clearances, construction on the first two phases of housing, the first residents moving in, completion of the first areas of parkland and riverside walkway, a substantial £60 million investment in the site and infrastructure, and £25 million roads improvements well underway.

And these are just the most visible achievements – a lot of hard work has gone on in the background, which has culminated in a revised planning application being submitted earlier this year.We have already transformed part of the 130 acre (52 hectare) site, and have a lot to be proud of.  But we are not finished yet, and there are many more celebrations to come.

Happy birthday to Glasgow Harbour – and thank you for being part of it.
