Glasgow Harbour Ltd. is actively involved in the regeneration of the Clyde, with the creation of the Glasgow Harbour development on 130 acres of former derelict shipyard and dockland.

Glasgow Harbour is a flagship development for Glasgow and Scotland, providing a focus for the regeneration initiatives on the Clyde and an internationally recognisable destination. The investment is considerable, with an end value of over £1 billion.

It is estimated that thousands of jobs will be created by the construction and development phase alone, with additional employment created by the finished development.  In total, over 10,000 jobs are anticipated.  Together with Glasgow City Council and Scottish Enterprise, we are keen to ensure as many as possible of these jobs go to local people.

In addition to the office space we will provide, Glasgow Harbour will be a high quality retail and leisure destination, providing employment and other benefits for the local economy. Tourism is a valuable contributor to the Scottish economy, and becoming increasingly important - and a considerable percentage of the visitors to Glasgow Harbour’s leisure and retail district, including the Riverside Museum,  are expected to be tourists from both the UK and abroad.

Infrastructure improvements will benefit residents and visitors to Glasgow Harbour as well the city as a whole, with considerable road improvements planned to begin in 2005.  In addition, the proposed LRT link will also provide additional services to the Partick, Broomhill, Yorkhill, Broomielaw and city centre areas.

The residential district will become home for around 5,000 people, and will benefit the city in a number of ways. Glasgow has a lack of premium quality housing, a need which Glasgow Harbour is addressing. We are bringing people back to live in the city once again, and providing the quality of environment and facilities they require. Once again the city benefits, this time directly from the council tax payments they will receive.

We haven’t forgotten the past and all that the Clyde has meant to Glasgow – our design, architectural salvage and the new Riverside Museum are testament to that. However, our focus is on the future, through sustainable regeneration, investment and infrastructure and environmental  improvements.

Glasgow Harbour is proud to be bringing people back to the river, and back to Glasgow.
